The EDM process, also known as spark erosion, involves machining a workpiece by means of countless electrical discharges generated between the workpiece and a brass wire acting as an electrode.

The electric discharges are released one after the other, forming small holes on the surface of the workpiece.

The discharges are constant over a certain period of time, forming a regular sequence of holes
Electrothermal separation processes are an alternative to chip removal processes for manufacturing extremely complex geometries with small corner radii, which must be of very high quality.
